Battlefield 6 Crossplay: How to Turn It Off

Normally, a game featuring crossplay is great news for gamers. It means that you can queue and play with people on other platforms. Additionally, due to the bigger matchmaking pool, it also leads to shorter wait times. However, some people may want to turn off Battlefield 6’s crossplay feature for various reasons. We’ll show you how.

On console

Turning off crossplay on console is very easy. Simply go to the settings menu, navigate to system, and turn the crossplay slider off. That’s it. You will now only be matched with other players on your console system, and you will not find any PC players in your games any longer.

Do note that this can increase queue times, especially as the game gets older and player population declines. Battlefield’s PC audience is a lot bigger, so by disabling crossplay you’re eliminating a large chunk of the playerbase from getting into your games.

Still, console users may want to opt out of playing with PC players altogether because PC players have an inherent advantage in shooter games. Console players do get (some form of) aim assist to make up for the difference, but in games like Battlefield 6, where dangers can come from anywhere (even above or below you), the much faster and more efficient input method of mouse and keyboard players usually trump the controller.

On PC

If you’re on PC, you cannot turn off crossplay, as the option quite simply is not there. This kind of makes sense, because there’s not really a reason for PC players to consider turning off crossplay. Console players do get aim assist (which can get annoying sometimes), but the amount of assistance they’re getting is not enough to be considered ‘unfair’.

In any case, if you’re a PC player, you’ll always be playing against a mixture of console and PC players. You can see which player is on what platform by looking at the icon next to their username in the scoreboard.
