Introduction

Vehicles and gadgets are an important part of Battlefield 6. But, without Engineers, they won’t survive the warfare. Engineers are your de facto defense against tanks, choppers, and all sorts of destructive vehicles. But they are also the protectors of your gadgets and vehicles.

They can bring down a chopper from the air or repair your tanks and gadgets. Here is a quick guide on Engineers in Battlefield 6.

Engineer: Counter Vehicles and Support Armor

Engineers run the vehicle game in Battlefield 6. Tanks, transports, or helicopters — this is who shuts enemy vehicles down and keeps yours rolling. Your primary role is straightforward: blow up enemy armor and repair friendly armor.

Signature Set

Each class has a signature set. Think of them as abilities and perks exclusive to that class. For engineer, these are:

Signature Gadget: Repair Tool – It can repair your team’s vehicles and equipment or damage the enemy’s.

Signature Weapon: SMGs – Better proficiency with SMGs. You get better hipfire control on them.

Signature Trait: Mechanized Infantry – You take less damage near friendly vehicles and prevent them from being taken over by enemies (if nobody is in the vehicle). However, you must use the Repair tool to keep this effect going.

Class Active Ability: Thermal Overdrive. The repair tools repair 50% faster for 10 seconds.

Training Path

Anti-Armor Combat Engineer
Damaging enemy vehicles reduces their repair effectiveness by half for 10 seconds. Entering a vehicle will regenerate its health if it’s above the critical level
15% faster reloads for Launchers Gadgets and equipment overheat 50% slower
Can carry two extra rockets Repairing a Gadget increases its maximum health

The Engineer Class has two training paths: Anti-Armor and Combat Engineer. One is focused on fighting against vehicles and equipment, while the other is more supportive.

Gadgets

The majority of the Engineer’s gadgets are centered around destroying vehicles and equipment.

MBT-LAW – Auto-Guided Launcher

The first rocket launcher you get your hands on. Pretty simple to use, just aim at a tank or a vehicle and fire. The rocket guides itself to the vehicle. It’s important to mention that it’s not a homing project. It only makes minor adjustments to reach its target. Perfect against tanks and other land vehicles, but harder to take down choppers with it.

SLM-93A – Air Defense Launcher

The best launcher for taking down jets and choppers. You need to lock on first by aiming at the chopper. You can then fire, and the rocket will hit the vehicle, unless the vehicle deploys countermeasures. Although it’s designed for air defense, it also works great on land vehicles.

You can also take down targets that a far away if they are marked by the Laser Designator or Tracer Dart. Switch to this launcher as soon as you unlock it; it’s much better than MBT-LAW.

RPG-7V2 – Unguided Rocket Launcher

The good ol’ fashioned rocket launcher we have seen in other games as well. Nothing special, just aim where you want to shoot and fire. It’s great for taking down structures, buildings, or breaching into areas. It’s much better at downing entrenched players than other launchers.

MAS 148 GLAIVE – Long-Range Launcher

Similar to the Air Defense Launcher, but it’s much better at dealing with targets far away. Like a tank camping on a hill, or a chopper hovering very high up. Similar to the Air Defense Launcher, you need to lock on before firing, and it can also take down targets marked by the Laser Designator or Tracer Dart.

M136 AT – Aim Guided Launcher

Similar to the other rocket launchers, but with its own gimmick. After firing the rocket, you can guide it with your crosshair. The rocket will follow your crosshair, so you can fire and then point at a tank to damage it. Fun to use, but not as effective as other gadgets.

CSS Bundle – Vehicle Supply Crate

As the name suggests, it’s a supply crate that resupplies ammo to vehicles and speeds up equipment cooldown for nearby friendly vehicles. If you are squad is always playing in vehicles, it’s a great idea to have this in your loadout. Tanks are only deadly if they have ammo.

Anti-Vehicle Mine

A classic pressure mine that takes down tanks and other vehicles. Only useful if the enemy team continues to push objectives with tanks. You can place them on streets, roads, or near objectives, and if a vehicle goes over it, it gets damaged.

PTKM-1R – Acoustic Sensor AV Mine

Similar to the Anti-vehicle mine, but uses audio to sense vehicles. Once a vehicle enters its range and is detected by it, it fires a small rocket that hits the vehicle where it’s weak. It’s got more range than the anti-vehicle mine, but deals less overall damage. However, it does target the weak spots of the vehicle.

M4A1-Slam – Tripwire Sensor AV Mine

Just another mine, but it’s a tripwire. When a tank or vehicle trips its proximity sensor, they are hit by a fast projectile. It’s the last mine that Engineers have in their loadout. All of these mines have their own situational use cases.

CSB-IV – EOD Bot

The most unique and fun-to-use gadget that Engineers have. It’s a remotely controlled bot that does a lot of things. Firstly, it repairs friendly vehicles and equipment. So, you can keep your tanks and equipment up from a safe distance. It can also place Anti Vehicle Mines, clear enemy gadgets in its surroundings, arm and disarm M-COM Explosives (a type of objective in certain modes), and can self-destruct to cause more chaos.

It’s the second last gadget in the Engineer’s loadout, so it’s going to take some time before you unlock it.

Beginner Guide (Tips)

Here are some tips to become a better Engineer for your squad.

Focus On Keeping Vehicles And Equipment Up

Engineers are the main support for vehicles and equipment, but also the defense against it. Your job isn’t to get kills or push objectives. It’s to protect your squad from enemy vehicles and protect your own vehicles.

Always play close to tanks or assault vehicles, so you can easily repair them. You can also use these tanks as cover to take down enemy tanks. You should always have an anti-vehicle gadget on you that can take down tanks or other vehicles.

Never Be Out In The Open

Engineers’ biggest weakness is their signature weapon, the SMG. SMGs are not long-range, so if you are fighting out in the open, you are at a massive disadvantage. Sure, you can swap out your SMG for an AR, but if you want the buffs that come with the SMG, you will have to play with it.

Secondly, enemies will always target the engineers first, because they can take down their vehicles. The moment an enemy tank sees you, it will rain hellfire on you. So, always make sure to play from cover and shoot rockets at enemy vehicles.

Use Your Destructive Powers To Help Teammates

Most of your kit is quite explosive. From rocket launchers, mines, to AV grenades, you have the equipment to cause a lot of destruction. When you are not fighting tanks, you can use these to create openings for your squad. You can take down a walls or break open a roof, for example.

Secondly, if your launchers can take down tanks, they can very easily take down enemies, so blow them up when you see them. Of course, launchers that require you to lock on first won’t work.

Engineers do more than just blow up vehicles — they pull strings on the map control. When playing this class, keep your armor alive, wreck your enemy’s, and your team can hold the ground towards victory way faster before opponents react.
